San Diego County News Center reported that people affected by the storm flooding on Jan. 22, 2024, may qualify for the Disaster CalFresh program. The initiative aims to assist individuals and families by offering a one-time payment for purchasing food.
According to the report, eligible San Diego County residents impacted by the flood have a limited window between March 7-15, 2024, to submit their applications. Additionally, individuals currently receiving CalFresh benefits may also be entitled to receive a Disaster CalFresh supplement.
Applicants are required to meet certain criteria, and the County will assess applications based on specific guidelines. The amount of Disaster CalFresh benefits provided is determined by factors such as household size and income level. For instance, a family of three with a monthly income of $2,942 after deductions for flood-related expenses could receive a $766 Disaster CalFresh benefit.
To apply for the one-time payment, individuals affected by the January flood can choose from various application methods. The benefits will be distributed via an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card.
The Disaster CalFresh program is a crucial support system for those impacted by the recent flooding in San Diego County. It serves as a means to alleviate some of the financial burdens caused by the natural disaster.
