San Diego State University’s women’s track and field team will begin its 2026 outdoor season this Saturday at the Jack Rose Track in Long Beach, California. Two distance runners from the Aztecs, Tatum Zinkin and Rebekah Niednagel, are scheduled to compete in individual events.
Rebekah Niednagel is set to run in the 1,500-meter event. She last competed at the UW Invitational and Mile City meets on January 31 in Seattle. Heading into Saturday’s meet, Niednagel holds a seed time of 4:35.77, which places her fourth among entrants.
Tatum Zinkin will participate in the 800-meter dash. During the indoor season, she recorded a time of 2:16.15 at the UW Invitational meet. For this weekend’s competition, Zinkin enters with a top-seeded time of 2:09.98.
The next two weeks are expected to be active for SDSU’s track and field athletes. On March 13, Xiamara Young will compete at the NCAA Indoor National Championships in both long jump and triple jump events. The same day marks the start of both the Aztec Coastal Classic and Distance Carnival meets, where approximately 20 different distance races will take place throughout the evening.
