California State Senator Brian W. Jones has used his social media platform to criticize several state policies and officials, focusing on taxpayer spending, environmental regulations, and criminal justice reform.

On March 10, 2026, Jones questioned the use of public funds for Vice President Kamala Harris’ security during her book tour. He wrote, “California taxpayers should not be paying for Kamala Harris’ book tour security – she is a Millionaire! Families are struggling to afford life in this state, and the out of touch left still think taxpayers are their personal ATM.”

Later that day, Jones addressed environmental policy in California. On March 10, 2026, he posted: “The California Air Resources Board wants to pile billions in new costs onto in-state fuel production through its cap and invest program. That means higher gas prices, fewer in state refineries, and more reliance on foreign oil. This is what happens when Democrats let unelected”

On March 11, 2026, Jones commented on Governor Gavin Newsom’s parole program for elderly inmates. He stated: “Newsom’s elderly parole program lets monsters walk free at AGE 50! Having a birthday doesn’t make predators safe! I introduced SB 356 to raise the age eligibility and years served to ensure dangerous criminals stay behind bars. Californians deserve safety. #FixCalifornia”

Jones has held leadership roles within the California Senate Republican Caucus as Senate Minority Leader and has served both in the State Assembly and State Senate (official website). His legislative work includes efforts focused on education and veteran support initiatives. Born into a military family in Austin, Texas, Jones graduated from Grossmont College before earning a business administration degree from San Diego State University (official website). He has been married since 1992 and is the father of three adult children.
