San Diego State University’s Chanachon Chokprajakchat was named the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week, according to a March 13 announcement from the league. This marks the senior golfer’s second time receiving this honor, with his previous award coming in April 2023.
The recognition highlights a strong season for San Diego State’s men’s golf team, as four Mountain West awards have been earned by Aztec golfers so far. Sophomore Harry Takis has received two golfer of the week honors, while senior Tyler Kowack was named golfer of the month in October.
Chokprajakchat secured third place out of 96 competitors at the R.E. Lamkin Invitational earlier this week. He finished with a score of nine-under-par 207 on the par-72, 7,033-yard San Diego Country Club course. Only Brigham Young’s Kihei Akina and Long Beach State’s Alejandro De Castro posted lower scores.
His total score matched his collegiate best for a 54-hole event, and his third-place finish is his second-best result during his college career. Chokprajakchat recorded three under-par rounds—69, 68, and 70—while the tournament average was 73.54 per round. He also had only three bogeys or worse over all three rounds, which was fewer than any other player in the field.
For this season, Chokprajakchat holds a scoring average of 73.05 across seven tournaments and twenty-one rounds, ranking him second on his team.
The Aztecs are scheduled to compete next at The Pauma Invitational from March 16 to March 18 in Pauma Valley, California.
