Five San Diego Toreros softball players were named to the 2026 West Coast Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention list, the league announced on May 14. The honorees are Mallory Axline, Taylor Johnson, Hailey Mulligan, Alex Riggs, and Kelsey Tadlock.
The recognition highlights the academic achievements of these student-athletes in addition to their contributions on the field. The West Coast Conference All-Academic awards are given to athletes who demonstrate excellence both academically and athletically.
Axline, a sophomore Finance major with a 3.73 GPA, was among the team’s most consistent offensive performers in 2026. She batted .289 with 41 hits, three triples, and 15 RBIs over 46 games and had an eleven-game hitting streak.
Johnson completed her senior year as a Business Administration and Marketing double major with a 3.27 GPA. She led the team in home runs (six), doubles (15), RBIs (26), and slugging percentage (.535) across all fifty games this season. Johnson also earned an All-WCC Honorable Mention nod for her play and leaves as one of the program’s top offensive contributors.
Mulligan is a senior Business Administration major who posted a 3.44 GPA while batting .293 with ten doubles and nine RBIs in thirty-three games during her final season.
Riggs contributed as a sophomore pitcher while studying Business Administration and Marketing with a GPA of 3.31. She made twenty appearances on the mound, recording two saves and striking out twenty-five batters over nearly forty innings pitched.
Tadlock finished her collegiate career as a senior Real Estate and Marketing double major with a GPA of 3.31. In her last start for San Diego she pitched six scoreless innings against Seattle U for a shutout win after carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning; she ended the season with five wins across twenty-six appearances.
These five athletes join others from across the conference in being recognized for their academic accomplishments alongside athletic performance as part of this year’s WCC All-Academic class.
