San Diego State University golfer Harry Takis has been named the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week, marking his second time receiving this honor. The announcement was made by the Mountain West Conference on Thursday.
Takis, from Brisbane, Australia, previously earned the same weekly award on January 29 and was recognized as the Mountain West Freshman of the Year during the 2024-25 season. He also received three Mountain West Freshman of the Week awards last season.
At the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas earlier this week, Takis tied for seventh place out of 84 participants. He recorded a score of 4-under 212 at an event featuring all 15 teams ranked within the top-50 nationally, including programs such as Virginia (No. 1), Auburn (No. 2), Florida (No. 3), Texas (No. 4), and San Diego State (No. 25).
Takis began with a first-round score of 67, which tied for the second-lowest round among all players in a total of 251 rounds played at Southern Highlands Golf Club. He followed with scores of 73 and an even-par 72 on the par-72, 7,510-yard course.
For this season, Takis is currently rated as the top player according to Scoreboard powered by clippd computer rankings released Wednesday. Over four tournaments and twelve rounds in the current campaign, he is averaging a score of 69.33 per round. His recent performances include tying for second at the Sahalee Players Championship in September, winning the Southwestern Invitational in January, finishing second at John A. Burns Intercollegiate in February, and tying for seventh at Southern Highlands Collegiate earlier this month.
San Diego State will host its only tournament of this season—the R.E. Lamkin Invitational—on March 9-10 at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, California.
