San Diego State men’s golfer Harry Takis has been named to the 2026 Haskins Award presented by Stifel Spring Watch List, according to a March 9 announcement from the Haskins Foundation. Takis is one of 20 collegiate golfers recognized on the spring watch list for this award, which honors the top college golfer in the nation.

The recognition highlights Takis’s strong performance during the current season. He is currently ranked as the top player in the latest Scoreboard powered by clippd computer ratings and has averaged 69.33 strokes per round across four tournaments and twelve rounds in the 2025-26 season. His results include a win at the Southwestern Invitational, second-place finishes at both the Sahalee Players Championship and John A. Burns Intercollegiate, and a tie for seventh at the Southern Highlands Collegiate.

Other players on this year’s spring watch list represent schools such as Texas Tech, Pepperdine, Oklahoma, Virginia, Arkansas, Alabama, Duke, Auburn, LSU, Arizona State, Texas, Oklahoma State, and Vanderbilt.

The Fred Haskins Award was established in 1971 and is given annually to college golf’s top player as voted on by players, coaches, members of the college golf media, and past winners. The award is named after Fred Haskins and has been won by notable golfers including Ben Crenshaw, Curtis Strange, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, and Ludvig Aberg.

Fifteen players will be selected for a postseason watch list before ten finalists are chosen on May 22. The final presentation will take place at The Grand Blanc adjacent to Omni La Costa’s first green on May 27. Voting concludes June 1 following NCAA Championships stroke play. Takis and his San Diego State teammates are currently competing at the R.E. Lamkin Invitational in Chula Vista.
