San Diego baseball player Jayton Greer has been named both the West Coast Conference (WCC) Player and Freshman of the Week for May 18, according to an announcement from the conference on Monday afternoon.

Greer’s performance against Loyola Marymount University included hitting .600 with six hits in ten at-bats, four runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, and three walks. He also reached base at a .714 rate and had a slugging percentage of 1.400.

In the series opener, Greer went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, one run scored, and four runs batted in. On Friday night he recorded three hits in four at-bats including two home runs—one being a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning—and finished with three runs scored and five RBIs. In Saturday’s game he added another hit with two doubles as San Diego completed a sweep over LMU.

The Toreros ended their season with three conference player of the week awards for 2026. The list of weekly award winners throughout the season includes players from several schools such as Santa Clara, Saint Mary’s, LMU, Pacific, Gonzaga, Portland, Seattle U., San Francisco and Pepperdine.

The recognition marks Greer’s first time earning both honors during his freshman campaign.
