Seniors Davis McDowell and Nathan Tseng of the UC San Diego men’s golf team were recognized on May 12 with All-Big West honors as the conference announced its annual postseason awards.
The two student-athletes received accolades for their performances during the season, with McDowell named to the All-Big West First Team and Tseng earning a spot on the Second Team. Both have been honored multiple times throughout their collegiate careers.
UC San Diego concluded its season last week at The Big West Championship held at La Quinta Country Club, where the Tritons finished fourth out of ten teams. He is now a four-time All-Big West performer.
Tseng, a senior from Fullerton, California, posted a stroke average of 72.2 this season. He won his first collegiate event at The Pearl at Kalauao and was UC San Diego’s top finisher at The Big West Championship by placing fifteenth overall. His accomplishments also include five top-20 finishes this year and matching his career-low round with a score of 66 in his opening round at the Ram Masters tournament.
According to information provided by UC San Diego Athletics, after competing for two decades as one of NCAA Division II’s most successful programs—with nearly 150 individual national championships—the university began participating in NCAA Division I as part of the Big West Conference starting in 2020.
