These updates are expected to impact some residents who receive food or medical assistance, though most people will still qualify for their current benefits. The county is urging all recipients to update their contact information through the BenefitsCal portal to ensure they receive important notifications about eligibility requirements.
Beginning this week, CalFresh customers will get text messages from the county with details about the upcoming changes and available resources. The county reports that nearly 400,000 residents currently receive CalFresh benefits and more than 800,000 are enrolled in Medi-Cal. Food, medical, and employment resources can also be found on 211’s website.
