Luca Vincini, a 6-foot-9 forward who most recently played for Banco di Sardegna Sassari in Italy’s LBA Serie A, has signed an athletic aid agreement to join the San Diego State University men’s basketball team for the 2026-27 academic year, Brian Dutcher, head coach of the program, announced on May 12.
Vincini brings six years of professional experience in Europe and is expected to add depth and international experience to the Aztecs’ roster. His signing marks an increase in foreign nationals on the team and reflects a growing trend toward international recruitment in college basketball.
According to Real GM, Vincini has played in 170 career games in Italy and shot 49.3 percent from the field while averaging 4.6 points and three rebounds per game over his career. Including European Cup games, he has appeared in a total of 193 contests with averages of 4.7 points on more than fifty percent shooting from the field and just over three rebounds per game.
Vincini is also a three-time member of the Italian Youth National Team. He averaged a career-best 9.7 points along with four rebounds at the U20 European Championship A in 2023 and participated with Italy’s senior national team during qualifiers for the FIBA World Cup.
He joins other European-born players Latrell Davis (Leeds, England), David Torresani (Milan, Italy), and Luka Skoric (Zagreb, Croatia) on next season’s roster. SDSU will have five foreign nationals next year—45.5 percent of its scholarship roster—which is noted as a program record.
Vincini becomes SDSU’s sixth addition this offseason alongside transfers Chance Gladden (Boston University), Nick Anderson (Rice), Jeremiah “Bear” Cherry (Sacramento State), as well as Torresani, Skoric, and freshman Zach White.
