The San Diego State University (SDSU) softball team will play a midweek game at Long Beach State before returning home to host the San Diego Classic. The matchup against Long Beach State is scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. PT and will be available for streaming on ESPN+ for subscribers.

After their game at Long Beach, the Aztecs will face Wisconsin on Thursday at 6 p.m., Notre Dame on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., and Princeton on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the San Diego Classic.

Historically, SDSU has struggled against Long Beach State with a record of 33-63 but has won the last three meetings between 2023 and 2024. Long Beach State’s head coach Kendall Fearn previously served as an assistant coach at SDSU from 2023 to 2025. Additionally, players Malayna Terrones and Jiselle Hernandez have family ties to current Aztecs Gabriella Terrones and Jayleen Hernandez.

SDSU holds a perfect record of 4-0 against Wisconsin, with previous victories in 2001, 2011, and 2020. Against Notre Dame, the Aztecs are ahead with five wins out of seven matchups but lost their most recent meeting by one run last season in Fullerton. SDSU has also won both previous games against Princeton.

Last week, SDSU finished the Torero Classic with two wins and three losses. The team secured shutout victories over San Diego and Kansas City but fell short against CSUN and twice to Washington.

Jade Ignacio leads SDSU hitters this season with a .435 batting average, three home runs, and nineteen RBIs. Jazmin Williams has also contributed significantly, hitting .467 last week with three home runs among her statistics. Other notable hitters include Olivia Gigante, Julie Holcomb, and Quinn Waiki. On the pitching staff, Faith Jordan and Matti Kwarta have been consistent performers while Key-annah Pu’a was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week earlier in February.
