The San Diego State University softball team will conclude its non-conference schedule by hosting California Baptist on March 10, before opening Mountain West play with a three-game home series against Colorado State from Friday through Sunday.

This week’s games mark the end of non-league competition for SDSU and the start of its final season in the Mountain West Conference. The Aztecs will face the Lancers at 6 p.m. Pacific Time on Wednesday. The series against Colorado State begins at 6 p.m. Friday, continues at 4 p.m. Saturday—with that game broadcast on the Mountain West Network—and concludes at noon Sunday.

SDSU has a strong record against both upcoming opponents. The Aztecs are 7-1 all-time versus California Baptist, including a win last season, and have won six straight since 2021. Against Colorado State, SDSU holds a 72-43 advantage overall; last year, the teams split two games in Fort Collins, but SDSU swept their last home series in San Diego in 2024.

Last week, pitcher Faith Jordan threw the fifth no-hitter in program history as SDSU defeated Long Beach State 13-0. Despite close losses to Wisconsin and Notre Dame later in the week, the Aztecs finished strong with a 14-6 victory over Princeton powered by home runs from Jazmin Williams, Angie Yellen, and Jayleen Hernandez. Yellen went four-for-four in that game and hit .667 for the week.

Key players for SDSU include Jade Ignacio—twice named Mountain West Player of the Week—and Williams (.418 average), along with Yellen (.406), Olivia Gigante (six home runs), Julie Holcomb (16 runs scored), and Quinn Waiki (.324 average). In pitching, Jordan (3.09 ERA) and Matti Kwarta (4.86 ERA) have been major contributors while Key-annah Pu’a was recognized as MW Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 16.
