The San Diego State University softball team will travel to Las Vegas for a three-game series against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, beginning Friday, March 20. This marks the first time in 2026 that the Aztecs will leave California for competition.

The games are scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at noon, with all matches broadcast on the Mountain West Network. The Aztecs currently hold a record of 17-11 overall and 2-1 in Mountain West play, while UNLV stands at 13-15 overall and 1-2 in conference games.

San Diego State has a historical advantage over UNLV, leading the all-time series 72-50. Last season, SDSU swept UNLV in San Diego, including two wins by run rule. In their last trip to Las Vegas two years ago, the Aztecs clinched the regular season championship after scoring ten runs in one inning during the final game of the series.

Recent performances show SDSU defeating California Baptist 8-0 last week and winning two out of three games against Colorado State to open conference play. The team’s pitching staff allowed only three runs across four games last week, achieving a combined earned run average of 0.78. Key contributors include Faith Jordan, Key-annah Pu’a, and Ava Schaffel on the mound.

Offensively, Jade Ignacio and Jazmin Williams lead SDSU hitters with batting averages above .400. Angie Yellen also contributed significantly in recent games with key hits against Colorado State. Pu’a was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week on February 16.

Both teams have faced common opponents this season—California Baptist, Seattle U, UC Riverside, and Wisconsin—with SDSU posting a better record against these teams than UNLV.
