The University of San Diego men’s golf team won the R.E. Lamkin Invitational on March 10 at San Diego Country Club, finishing with a three-round total of 26-under-par 838 to secure a two-stroke victory over Long Beach State.

This win marks the Toreros’ first tournament title since their victory at the Nick Watney Invitational in February 2025. The result highlights the team’s strong performance against a competitive field that included San Diego State, BYU, and UC San Diego.

The Toreros posted rounds of 283, 274, and 281 on the par-72 course, with their best effort coming in the second round when they shot a collective 14-under-par. Ian Maspat led USD individually, closing with a final-round score of 66 to finish sixth overall at six-under-par for the tournament. Reed Arnaldo tied for seventh at five-under-par, while Cooper Humphreys and Reid Piron also finished inside the top fifteen.

Other contributors included You Seong Choi, who tied for 52nd at six-over-par. Several players competed as individuals: Brady Clark finished in 38th place; Go Nakatsukasa and Henry Dall tied for 59th; and Charlie Gillespie placed 87th.

BYU’s Kihei Akina took medalist honors with a score of fourteen-under-par, followed by Long Beach State’s Alejandro De Castro at thirteen-under-par.

The Toreros will next compete from March 16 to March 18 at the Pauma Valley Invitational hosted by Loyola Marymount.
