San Diego softball lost 3-1 to Sacramento State in the second game of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium on March 21, dropping both games of Saturday’s series.

The result leaves San Diego with a record of 12-16, while Sacramento State improves to 20-10. The game was marked by a strong pitching performance from Kaitlyn Bartlow, who pitched a complete game and limited Sacramento State to three runs on five hits over six innings.

San Diego’s only run came in the fourth inning. Michelle Delgado drew a walk, Mallory Axline singled her into scoring position, and Taylor Johnson was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Janae Combs then hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Delgado to score and tie the game at one.

Sacramento State responded in the fifth inning with a solo home run to regain the lead. They added another run in the sixth inning with a triple followed by an RBI single. San Diego managed just two hits against Sacramento State’s starting pitcher, who also threw a complete game.

The Toreros are scheduled to conclude their series against Sacramento State tomorrow, with the final game set for 11:00 AM at Shea Stadium.
