San Diego Softball lost 3-0 to Idaho State in the first game of a doubleheader at the Reggie Smith Softball Complex on March 13.
The loss brings San Diego’s record to 11-13, while Idaho State improves to 17-10. The game was marked by strong pitching from Charlie Johnson, who allowed only one unearned run through six innings. The run came in the second inning after a throwing error led to an RBI single for Idaho State.
Johnson kept the deficit at one until the seventh inning, when a two-out, two-run home run extended Idaho State’s lead and ended her outing. Offensively, Kaitlyn Wynia and Mallory Axline each collected two hits in three at-bats for San Diego. The Toreros’ best scoring opportunity came in the second inning when they loaded the bases with two outs but were unable to score.
The result leaves San Diego still seeking its first conference win as it continues its season.
