Rep. Scott Peters, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 50th district since 2013, addressed several issues in a series of tweets posted on May 7, 2026.
In recognition of healthcare workers, Peters wrote on National Nurses Day: “Happy National Nurses Day! Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system – offering compassion and support to patients in addition to lifesaving medical care. They deserve our gratitude, and dignity on the job.” (May 7, 2026).
Later that day, Peters commented on access to reproductive health medication: “I joined my colleagues to file an amicus brief urging SCOTUS to defend access to mifepristone. Over and over, mifepristone has been proven to be safe and effective. Decisions regarding when and how to have a family must be made between patients and doctors, not judges or https://t.co/gUNo4vZ4eC” (May 7, 2026).
That evening, he addressed immigration policy under former President Trump: “President Trump’s mass deportation agenda and all-of-government approach to immigration is raising costs for everyone. Learn why in part two of this important 72 & Sunny episode at the link in my bio, on my congressional youtube page, or most podcast platforms. https://t.co/QEMXuHZoA9” (May 7, 2026).
Peters has represented California’s 50th district since replacing Brian Bilbray in Congress in 2013. He was born in Springfield, Ohio in 1958 and currently resides in San Diego at age 64. Peters holds a BA from Duke University (1980) and a JD from New York University (1984).
