Rep. Scott Peters, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 50th district since 2013, has recently highlighted energy issues and federal policy in a series of posts on social media.
On March 23, Peters announced the upcoming release of a new episode in his ongoing video series: “Episode 2 of 72 & Sunny drops TOMORROW! Scott Anders with @EPIC_USDLaw and I will dive into what the federal government should be doing to lower your electricity bill and speed up clean energy projects to fight climate change. Watch the full episode on my congressional youtube https://t.co/WDuXFfNA7W”.
The following day, Peters reflected on his recent participation as ranking Democrat at an Energy and Commerce Subcommittee hearing: “I may look serious, but I enjoyed serving as the top Democrat in last week’s @energycommerce Subcommittee hearing. We discussed the urgent need to upgrade our national power grid to lower costs and prevent blackouts. The longer we wait, the worse this problem gets. https://t.co/k44qMlDHJ4 https://t.co/Wkc7Gi0V90” (March 24).
On March 25, Peters shared more details about his latest video discussion: “Episode 2 of 72 & Sunny is all about energy. I sat down with Scott Anders from @EPIC_USDLaw to discuss the urgent need for grid modernization and permitting reform, global competition, California’s energy supply mix, and more. https://t.co/4uHyuqsfMo”.
Peters’ recent focus aligns with broader national conversations about infrastructure investment and climate policy. Since taking office in 2013 after replacing Brian Bilbray, Peters has represented California’s 50th district—a region that includes parts of San Diego where he currently resides. Born in Springfield, Ohio in 1958, Peters earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1980 before receiving a law degree from New York University in 1984.
