On March 7, the Smith Pioneers, featuring former Academy of Our Lady of Peace standout Jillian Nowicki, were defeated by the Bates Bobcats 74-70 in the NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament.
The matchup was held at Alumni Gymnasium at 7:15 p.m. and marked the first meeting between the Pioneers and Bobcats in the tournament.
Five San Diego Toreros softball players have been honored by the West Coast Conference for their academic achievements alongside athletic performance this season. The honorees include Mallory Axline, Taylor Johnson, Hailey Mulligan, Alex Riggs, and Kelsey Tadlock.
On Friday, May 15, these former City of San Diego area high school stars will be competing.
San Diego State University announced that Harold “Hal” Brown has died at age 92. Brown was recognized for his athletic achievements and significant contributions to civil rights initiatives both on campus and throughout San Diego.
