The San Diego County Citizens Law Enforcement Review Board (CLERB) is currently accepting applications to fill an at-large seat on its board. Established in 1990, CLERB investigates citizen complaints against the county's Sheriff's deputies and probation officers. The board also reviews deaths related to actions by these sworn officers.

The vacancy is open to any eligible resident within the county. CLERB consists of 11 members, with two representatives from each of the five supervisorial districts and one member chosen at large from any district. Members are appointed by the County Board of Supervisors for staggered three-year terms starting July 1 and ending June 30.

In addition to investigating complaints, CLERB provides advisory findings and recommends policy changes to the Sheriff, Chief Probation Officer, and the Board of Supervisors.

The first review of applications will commence on January 30. Applicants who have submitted a CLERB application within the past year do not need to reapply as their applications remain on file with the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors.
