In a series of recent tweets, U.S. Congressman Scott Peters discussed his concerns and insights on current political and economic topics. Peters, representing California's 50th district since 2013, is known for his critical stance on proposed legislation and budget changes by the Republican party.

On April 7, 2025, Peters criticized the Speaker and President Donald Trump for working on tax cuts, which he claims are financed by reductions in Medicaid. He also called for Republicans to oppose the tariffs, terming the situation as "madness." "The Speaker and President Trump are working overtime this week to jam through their tax cuts paid for by slashing Medicaid. They should be working on undoing the disastrous tariffs. It's time for rank-and-file Republicans to stand up against this madness."

Later that day, Peters shared information about Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) accounts, highlighting their usefulness for people with disabilities and their families in managing disability-related expenses. He encouraged awareness of these savings accounts during the tax season. "Did you know people with disabilities and their families can use Achieving a Better Life Experience accounts to help pay for qualified disability-related expenses, including assistive technology and wellness expenses? Learn more about these savings accounts this tax season:"

In another tweet dated April 7, 2025, Peters expressed his opposition to the Republican budget plan, which he claims would significantly cut funding for the Education Department, as well as Medicaid, while increasing national debt. He criticized the tax cuts aimed at those he perceives as not in need and stated his intent to vote against the plan. "The Republican’s budget plan will cut the Education Department, decimate Medicaid funding, increase our national debt, and saddle our kids with the bill, all to pay for tax cuts for people who don’t need it. It’s dangerous and foolish. I’ll be voting against it."
