UC San Diego men’s tennis defeats Navy 4-3 in close match

UC San Diego defeated Navy 4-3 on March 11 at the Northview Tennis Courts in La Jolla, improving its season record to 8-8. The Tritons secured the doubles point and clinched the overall victory with wins in three singles matches.

The match was closely contested, with both teams earning points throughout the day. UC San Diego’s win adds to their momentum as they approach upcoming matches.

In doubles play, Yaron Guberman and Oliver Worth won decisively at No. 3 doubles with a 6-0 score, while Trey Fourticq and Trevor Nguyen earned a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles. The No. 1 doubles match featuring Andrew Beceiro and Prathinav Chunduru was left unfinished at a tied score of 6-6.

During singles competition, Chunduru delivered a strong performance at No. 3 singles, winning in three sets (7-5, 7-6(7), 6-2) and securing the final point for UC San Diego. Fourticq won his match at No. 5 singles (6-1, 7-5), and David Adamson added another point with a straight-set win (6-4, 6-4) at No. 6 singles. Other matches saw Worth fall at No. 1 singles (2-6, 0-6), Nguyen lose at No. 2 singles (4-6, 2-6), and Guberman narrowly defeated at No. 4 singles (3-6, 6-3, 2-6).

Chunduru extended his singles win streak to three matches during this contest. Fourticq and Nguyen were paired together for the first time this season in doubles play and earned a victory.

Looking ahead, UC San Diego will host Air Force on Monday, March 23 at Northview Tennis Courts starting at 11 a.m., with live stats available online.
