UC San Diego’s women’s tennis team will host the Cal Poly Mustangs on Saturday, March 7, at Northview Tennis Courts in La Jolla. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The Tritons currently hold a 5-8 overall record and are 1-3 in Big West conference play. Cal Poly enters the contest with a 6-3 overall record and remains undefeated in conference matches at 2-0.

Historically, UC San Diego has struggled against Cal Poly in conference play, losing all five previous meetings. However, the Tritons have won six out of seven total encounters with the Mustangs outside of conference competition. Their most recent conference matchup was on April 4, 2025, when UC San Diego lost by a score of 2-5.

The Tritons’ possible lineup for Saturday includes doubles teams Hana Gamracy/Carling Allaye-Chan, Alisa Lansky/Allison Lian, and Olivia Allegre/Kamya Nair. Singles players expected to compete are Olivia Allegre, Carling Allaye-Chan, Alisa Lansky, Hana Gamracy, Allison Lian, and Kamya Nair.

Team captains this season are graduate student Hana Gamracy and freshman Olivia Allegre. The roster features one graduate student, one senior, one junior, two sophomores, and three freshmen following the graduation of seven players from last year’s squad.

Head coach Sebastian Bader is now in his third year leading the program after serving as an assistant under former coach Liz LaPlante. Bader was appointed following LaPlante’s retirement after winning four Division III national titles over her career.

The Tritons have also seen academic success; they achieved a team grade point average of 3.65 during the fall quarter—the highest among all Triton athletic programs—with senior Hana Gamracy and junior Varsha Jawadi both earning perfect GPAs.

After facing Cal Poly, UC San Diego will take a break from conference play to host Dartmouth on Sunday, March 22 at Northview Tennis Courts. Admission to home matches is free but parking permits are required on campus every day.

UC San Diego recently announced it will join the West Coast Conference starting with the 2027-28 season. This year’s schedule includes matches against WCC opponents such as USD (Jan. 14), Santa Clara (March 24), and LMU (Feb. 12).

The athletics program has transitioned from NCAA Division II to Division I as part of The Big West Conference after earning numerous championships and academic honors over two decades in lower divisions.
