The economy in San Diego and around the rest of the country has suffered at the hands of the pandemic and its related shutdowns and restrictions.
That leaves many going without wages, food and even shelter. To help alleviate this situation, Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation is hard at work to provide struggling families with the essential supplies that they need. Wakeland has received grant funding through the San Diego COVID-19 Response Fund, which was aimed at helping small businesses and charitable organizations during the pandemic.
For over two decades, Wakeland has been present in the community and has been working hard to provide nutrition and affordable housing to families in need. Their actions have led to the development of affordable homes and the distribution of thousands of pounds of food. In fact, they have been responsible for delivering over 100,000 pounds of food since the beginning of the pandemic.
As the pandemic worsens and more and more San Diego citizens find themselves out of work or in a tough spot, Wakeland is still answering the call and helping when they can.
