Some user fees at San Diego County Parks will increase starting February 18. This change comes after a decade without adjustments to the fees for services such as camping, parking, fishing permits, boating rentals, and sports facilities.
The fee increase is intended to help County Parks manage rising costs while continuing to provide high-quality outdoor and recreational spaces. According to the announcement, "The increase helps Parks keep pace with rising costs while continuing to deliver best-in-nation outdoor and recreation spaces at a good value when compared to similar park systems."
Most of the changes involve minor increases. For instance, day-use parking will rise from $3.00 per day to $5.00 per day, and an RV partial hook-up campsite will go from $29 to $35. The revised fees aim to simplify matters by including up to two pets and one extra vehicle in the camping reservation.
To promote accessibility, Parks offers programs designed to reduce financial barriers. These include discounts for veterans, seniors, and groups, as well as scholarships and the free First Time Camping Program.
San Diego County's Parks & Recreation services are recognized for enhancing residents' quality of life by promoting health and wellness through various programs suitable for all ages across numerous facilities.
