UC San Diego recently announced that self-administered COVID-19 testing kits are now available at vending machines across campus, according to a Jan. 4 Facebook post.
Students and campus staff can pick up a test kit at numerous vending machines on campus. After receiving the kit, they’ll have 72 hours to take the swab test and return the sample to a drop box next to any of the vending machines. More detailed instructions are available for students and campus employees.
These efforts are through UC San Diego’s Return to Learn program and aims to help the campus community quickly identify and contain any potential outbreaks of COVID-19.
Vending machines locations will be available Monday through Sunday 9 AM to 4 PM. The complete list of vending machine locations can be found here.
Students and campus employees will need to have the UC San Diego app installed on their smartphones. The app will be used to scan test kits and receive results. App users are advised to have their MyStudentChart (students) and MyChart (employee) contact information up to date.
