The San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved extending the emergency rental assistance program for San Diego residents who have noted extreme hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is still a precarious period, and we urge all San Diegans to continue to follow all of the health precautions we have implemented since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic,” County Public Health Officer Wilma J. Wooten said in a press release. “Please wash your hands, watch your distance, and wear your mask, and when it is your turn to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, get vaccinated.”
The plan allows San Diego residents who are facing eviction or are incapable of paying their rent to apply for financial aid. Residents can use the funds to cover rent, utilities and other essential household expenditures.
The plan extends the financial protections for up to six months, but additional support is available in certain conditions. It gives priority to single-parent families.
According to reports, the state made the judgment to end the Stay Home Order based on forecasts that confer the Southern California four-week intensive care unit bed availability to be above the 15% it had previously ascertained.
