San Diego County is honoring National Volunteer Month by highlighting the numerous volunteer opportunities available within its departments. According to the County Celebrates National Volunteer Month announcement, more than 9,000 volunteers contributed their time and effort last year, resulting in an estimated value of $37,252,976.
Volunteering with the County of San Diego is emphasized as a way to give back to the community, with the opportunity to align personal values with action, receive training, and gain valuable work experience. The diverse range of services offered by the County means volunteer roles are available in departments such as Animal Services, Libraries, Parks and Recreation, the Sheriff’s Department, and Emergency Services.
Each year, the Board of Supervisors acknowledges the exceptional dedication of volunteers across various County departments. This year, the Volunteer Recognition Ceremony is set to take place before the Board of Supervisor’s meeting on Tuesday, April 30, at the County Administration Center. During the ceremony, 19 outstanding volunteers will be recognized for their contributions.
For those interested in becoming a volunteer with the County, further information and opportunities can be found by visiting the Clerk of the Board’s volunteer program.
