San Diego County News Center has announced that the Citizens’ Law Enforcement Review Board (CLERB) is currently seeking applicants to fill an opening on its board. Established in 1990, CLERB plays a vital role in investigating citizen complaints against San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies and probation officers.
According to the report, the current vacancy is in Supervisorial District 4, encompassing various cities and communities within San Diego County. The board consists of 11 members, with representation from each of the five supervisorial districts and one member chosen at large. Appointments are made by the County Board of Supervisors for staggered three-year terms.
In addition to handling citizen complaints, CLERB also investigates deaths related to the actions of sworn deputies and probation officers. The board provides advisory findings on complaints and suggests policy and procedure changes to relevant authorities.
Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications for review, with the initial assessment scheduled to commence on Monday, June 3. Notably, individuals who have previously applied for CLERB within the past 12 months will automatically be considered for the current opening without the need for reapplication.
In line with its commitment to transparency and accountability, CLERB continues to play a crucial role in overseeing law enforcement practices within San Diego County. Interested individuals are urged to take part in this opportunity to contribute to the oversight and improvement of law enforcement procedures in the region.
