Senate Minority Leader Brian W. Jones (R-San Diego) has released a video detailing the purported failures of the Biden Administration's open border policy in San Diego. The video also criticizes California Democrat politicians for allegedly providing free healthcare to all illegal immigrants.
In the video titled "The Crisis Point: Examining Illegal Immigration at the California Border," Jones claims that Border Patrol agents are under a gag order, preventing them from speaking publicly about the situation. "On the tour, we learned that Border Patrol agents are under a gag order, so since they can’t talk to the public, we’re telling the story for them,” said Leader Jones. “We’re releasing footage from our tour and exposing the chaotic and dangerous situation at the open border."
Jones argues that San Diego has become a leading hot-spot for illegal immigration due to federal government failure. He calls on the Biden Administration to immediately close the border to new illegal immigrants and control what he describes as a national security crisis.
For the first time in 25 years, San Diego is reportedly the top region along the southern border for migrant arrivals. According to Jones, today's migrants are not only coming from impoverished South American countries but from all over the world. For instance, there has been a 500% increase in Chinese migrants detained at the San Diego border compared to last year.
Despite these issues and an alleged $73 billion budget deficit, Governor Newsom and Democrat politicians are moving forward with expanding free healthcare to all illegal immigrants in California. This expansion is expected to cost around $5 billion annually. "While Democrats slash funding to our kids’ schools, they exacerbate the immigration crisis with government handouts that we literally cannot afford,” continued Leader Jones.
During Governor Newsom’s May Revise budget presentation, he reiterated Democrats' intent to expand taxpayer-funded healthcare to all illegal immigrants. Since January, Leader Jones has urged Governor Newsom to pause this healthcare expansion and prioritize core government functions, such as education, while legislators work to balance the budget.
Jones has been actively involved with the border crisis for years, witnessing its impact on his constituents' daily lives. Last year, he visited the San Diego border on a bipartisan tour to learn more about the ground situation.
