San Diego County's Vector Control team has initiated an aerial campaign to control mosquito populations, aiming to protect the public from diseases such as West Nile Virus. The operations involve inspections and treatments conducted via helicopter over lakes, river valleys, lagoons, and other standing water sources throughout the region. Ground-level interventions are also part of the effort.

The treatment targets mosquito larvae and is deemed safe for people, pets, wildlife, and plants. The mosquito season spans from April to October. Residents are encouraged to mitigate risks by wearing long sleeves and pants outdoors and eliminating standing water around their homes.

For more information on prevention measures or to report high mosquito activity, residents can contact the County Communications Office at communications@sdcounty.ca.gov or 619-595-4633.
