The San Diego County Board of Supervisors recently reviewed an update on the Aging Roadmap, a strategic framework aimed at fostering supportive and inclusive communities for people of all ages and abilities. This initiative emphasizes providing equitable opportunities for residents to thrive.

Currently, San Diego County is home to over 710,000 individuals aged 60 and above, with projections indicating an increase to 820,000 within the next five years. The Aging Roadmap, first introduced in 2019, undergoes annual updates incorporating feedback from community members and professionals working with the elderly population.

"The feedback we get from the community is really important to us," stated Jennifer Bransford-Koons, Director of County Aging & Independence Services (AIS). "It tells us whether we are reaching people with the right services in a way that is accessible to them so that they can age well and thrive."

The 2024 Annual Update of the Aging Roadmap includes various program highlights. For those seeking further information or interested in available programs and services for older adults, AIS provides assistance through its Call Center at 1-800-339-4661 or via their website.
