San Diego County residents have until Monday, October 21, to register for the upcoming November Presidential General Election if they wish to receive a ballot by mail. Failing to meet this deadline will require voters to visit the Registrar’s office in Kearny Mesa or go to a vote center starting Saturday, October 26, where they can conditionally register and vote provisionally through November 5.
Registration can be completed online at sdvote.com. If the signature is verified through California Department of Motor Vehicles records, registration will be automatically forwarded to the Registrar's office. In cases where signatures are not confirmed, individuals must print the form, sign it, and ensure it reaches the Registrar’s office by 5 p.m. on October 21. Online registrations are accepted until midnight.
Those without computer access can request a registration form by calling (800) 696-0136 or emailing rovmail@sdcounty.ca.gov. Registration status can also be checked at sdvote.com.
Election materials are available in Spanish, Filipino, Vietnamese, and Chinese for those requiring language assistance. Early voting is currently taking place at the Registrar’s office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Starting Saturday, October 26, voters who prefer casting their ballots in person can visit any of the 39 daily vote centers operating from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, November 2, more than 200 locations will become available with extended hours from November 4 and on election day itself from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voters can find nearby official ballot drop boxes or vote centers listed in their voter information pamphlet or online via sdvote.com.
