Voters in San Diego County have the opportunity to cast their ballots early for the upcoming November Presidential General Election. Starting Saturday, October 26, 39 vote centers will open across the county, operating daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The number of available vote centers will increase to over 200 on Saturday, November 2. These centers will remain open through November 4 with the same hours and will extend their hours on Election Day, November 5, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voters are encouraged to prepare by reviewing their voter information pamphlet and marking selections on the sample ballot beforehand. This preparation can help streamline the voting process when using the touch screen ballot marking devices at any county vote center.
"Remember that campaigning or electioneering within 100 feet of a vote center or official ballot drop box is not allowed," voters are reminded. Additionally, petitions cannot be circulated near these locations.
To avoid potential long lines due to numerous contests on this year's ballot, early voting is recommended by the Registrar’s office. Voters opting for mail-in ballots should ensure they sign and date their return envelopes before mailing them promptly or dropping them off at one of the Registrar's designated drop boxes.
San Diego County has set up around 150 official ballot drop boxes for convenience. These secure boxes are marked with both the Registrar’s logo and County seal and are accessible via a locator map provided online at sdvote.com.
Once mailed ballots reach the Registrar’s office, they are processed for inclusion in election night results. Voters can track their mail-in ballots through sdvote.com or via USPS’s “Where’s My Ballot?” service.
