The County Health and Human Services Agency in San Diego has been awarded a grant of $250,000 from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to enhance its child safety seat education program. This initiative is set to continue until September 2025.

Barbara Jiménez, Community Operations Officer at the County Health and Human Services Agency, expressed her enthusiasm about the funding: "We are thrilled to receive this funding to support our child safety seat education program," she stated. Jiménez emphasized the importance of proper car seat use, noting that it can significantly lower the risk of injury or death in vehicular accidents. "With this grant, we can provide hands-on training, resources, and support so that every family has the knowledge and tools to keep their children safe."

The grant will facilitate various community outreach activities such as educational classes, distribution of child safety seats, and training on their installation and usage. The funds are intended to support comprehensive efforts aimed at ensuring child passenger safety.

This financial backing comes from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
