On January 29, 2025, Rep. Peters addressed the issue of a funding freeze initiated by President Trump. He urged for its cancellation following a court's decision to put it on hold. In his tweet, he stated: "Now that the funding freeze has been put on hold in court, President Trump should cancel it." He emphasized the potential risks posed by this freeze to various social programs including homeless assistance and veterans programs.
