Rep. Scott Peters, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 50th district, has recently expressed concerns through a series of tweets regarding various federal issues and decisions made by President Trump. Peters, who has been in office since 2013 after replacing Brian Bilbray, addressed topics ranging from federal employment uncertainties to funding freezes affecting scientific research.

On February 6, 2025, Rep. Scott Peters highlighted the precarious situation faced by nearly 65,000 federal workers in San Diego due to an "offer" presented to them. He stated that it is "unclear if any of the commitments will be honored", leaving employees uncertain about their job security.

Later that day, Peters criticized President Trump's decision to freeze funding for the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. In his tweet at 23:20 UTC, he mentioned joining colleagues outside the Department of Health and Human Services to oppose these actions which are halting critical research efforts. He remarked on how these freezes are "stopping life saving research".

At 23:28 UTC on February 6th, Rep. Peters voiced further concerns over several actions taken by President Trump including executive orders he deemed unconstitutional and controversial cabinet appointments. Additionally, he raised alarms about Elon Musk’s access to federal agencies and American private data. He invited readers to view his full statement via a link provided in his tweet here.
