Peters, who succeeded Brian Bilbray in 2013, recently shared his thoughts on the actions of House Democrats and the role of Senate Democrats.

On March 11, 2025, Rep. Scott Peters expressed his views regarding the courage shown by House Democrats with two-year terms. He commented on their actions and posed a challenge to their counterparts in the Senate: "House Democrats with two-year terms showed courage today. Let's see what those six-year-term Senators do."

The following day, March 12, 2025, Peters addressed the need for Senate Democrats to use their leverage effectively. He emphasized the importance of bringing Republicans to negotiate over President Trump's funding cuts that he claims violate constitutional principles: "They must use their leverage to bring Republicans to the negotiating table on President Trump’s unconstitutional funding cuts that violate the separation of powers."

In another post on March 12, 2025, Peters highlighted the unique position of Senate Democrats due to the filibuster. He urged Leader Schumer and his colleagues to utilize this advantage to combat issues such as rising costs and deficits: "The Senate is the only institution in government where Democrats have true leverage thanks to the filibuster. Leader Schumer and Senate Democrats must use that leverage to fight for Americans facing higher costs, bigger deficits, and an intentional recession."
