Earlier in February, San Diego County opened a vaccination superstation in La Mesa as part of statewide efforts to slow and stop the spread of COVID-19.
The La Mesa site is at the Grossmont Center, 5500 Grossmont Center Drive, Suite 212.
The county also said in a release that a smaller clinic opened in San Ysidro at Southwestern College Higher Education Center, 460 W. San Ysidro Blvd.
“We’re prepared to get shots in the arms of as many San Diegans as possible when more doses come to the region,” County Public Health Officer Wilma J. Wooten said in the release. “Getting vaccinated is the best defense we have against COVID-19.”
San Ysidro will provide up to 500 doses daily and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
The county also said that clinics would only vaccinate people in Phase 1A and people 65 years and older in Phase 1B for the time being. The limited number of doses available was cited as the reason for the restriction.
“We understand some people want to get vaccinated right away, but, unfortunately, we don’t have enough vaccine to give a dose to all San Diegans who want one,” Wooten said.
