San Diego County News Center reports that County Child Support Services is distributing hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies to families during its Super Saturday event. The event will take place on August 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Child Support Services Central Office, located at 3666 Kearny Villa Road in San Diego.

In celebration of Child Support Awareness Month every August, Child Support Services aims to assist local families and support them as the new school year begins. According to Andrea Cooley, chief of operations, the backpacks and supplies are made available through donations from Child Support staff, local businesses, and community organizations.

Cooley emphasized that this initiative helps alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by families due to rising living costs. "A new backpack and supplies can boost a child’s confidence and self-esteem as they start a new school year," she said.

During the Super Saturday event, parents can also access services from various County departments and partner organizations present at the venue. Additionally, Child Support Services will provide information on obtaining a high school diploma in partnership with San Diego County Library and details about programs like Parents Invest in Education and Youth with Dreams designed to help children.
