Scott Peters, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 50th district since 2013, has expressed his concerns over recent decisions made by the Trump Administration through a series of tweets. Peters, who was born in Springfield, Ohio in 1958 and currently resides in San Diego, graduated from Duke University with a BA in 1980 and earned a JD from New York University in 1984.

On March 16, 2025, Peters criticized President Trump's budget cuts affecting various programs. He highlighted that "It's hard to believe President Trump cut programs helping American farmers, schools, and hungry families all at once. Yet, somehow, he did it!" Peters pointed out that the USDA had purchased more than $700k of locally sourced food for SDUSD students last year.

In another tweet on the same day, Peters reiterated his opposition to Trump's decision by stating that "I strongly oppose Trump’s decision and think it is great when we take advantage of our local farms to feed our kids and hungry people."

On March 17, 2025, Peters voiced his support for a bill introduced by Rep. Derek Tran aimed at reinstating veterans affected by previous administrative actions. He mentioned his backing of the initiative through a tweet: "I am a strong supporter of @RepDerekTranCA's bill to help reinstate the nearly 6,000 veterans fired by the Trump Administration." He criticized efforts to balance the budget at the expense of veterans while simultaneously increasing national debt.
