Rep. Scott Peters, a U.S. Congress member representing California's 50th district, shared a series of tweets on March 25, 2025, honoring the valor and heroism of military personnel. These posts highlight acts of bravery by Colonel Robert J. Modrzejewski, Colonel Jay R. Vargas, and Sergeant John P. Baca.

In one tweet from March 25, 2025, Rep. Peters described the actions of Colonel Robert J. Modrzejewski: "Colonel Robert J. Modrzejewski led his men in the successful seizure of enemy ammunition and supplies. Despite personal injuries, he skillfully directed and inspired the efforts of his company in successfully repelling an aggressive enemy counterattack."

Another tweet from the same date focused on Colonel Jay R. Vargas: "Colonel Jay R. Vargas maneuvered his marines across 700 meters of open rice paddy while under intense enemy fire. Despite his own injuries, he carried his battalion commander to safety and inspired his men to renew their relentless advance of securing their objective."

The third tweet honored Sergeant John P. Baca for his extraordinary courage: "Sergeant John P. Baca was serving on a recoilless-rifle team during a night ambush mission. He displayed extraordinary courage and selflessness by covering a fragmentation grenade thrown by the enemy with his steel helmet and fell on it as the grenade exploded, saving 8 men."
