Rep. Scott Peters, serving U.S. Congress's 50th District in California since 2013, regularly shares updates on various issues and events on social media. Peters replaced Brian Bilbray in 2013 and continues to reside in San Diego. Born in Springfield, Ohio, in 1958, Peters holds degrees from Duke University and New York University. In a series of tweets released in early April 2025, Peters discussed topics related to art competitions, personal anecdotes, and economic policies impacting California.

On April 2, Peters highlighted the Congressional Art Competition, intended to “showcase the artistic talent and creativity of high school students in CA50 and encourages them to foster a love of the arts.” He reminded constituents that “the deadline to submit artwork is next week” and included a link for further information.

Later on April 2, Rep. Peters reflected on his relationship with a former political opponent, stating that Harry Mathis, who initially supported his opponent, became a supportive ally. Peters acknowledged Mathis's contributions, noting, “He had experience serving the country and the community in the Navy and on the city council,” and he appreciated the advice Mathis provided regarding public service.

On April 3, 2025, Peters remarked on economic concerns, specifically the impact of former President Trump’s tariffs. He tweeted, “Trump’s tariffs will increase prices across the country, including for lumber and steel, appliances, and other housing construction products.” He expressed concern over California's existing housing shortage and how these tariffs might “only exacerbate it.”
