In order to incentivize professionals to join the health care industry and pursue a health care career, the San Diego Workforce Partnership has partnered with Penn Foster to offer courses to the general public for people that are interested in a health care profession.
The courses will be available at no cost, which includes a contact tracer pathway course, hospital greeter courses and a course for patient transport.
These courses are designed to provide valuable experience and knowledge to those that are seeking a profession in health care, but may not have a formal education yet. In addition to providing the courses for free, Penn Foster has also made the content available on mobile devices, enabling almost anyone to learn the courses and enroll in the program.
The program comes at a great time of need in the health care industry. With COVID cases reaching all-time highs, there is a shortage of health care professionals needed to deal with the crisis. In response, many localities are launching similar programs that could fast-track individuals to a career in health care.
