Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (CA-51) introduced a resolution today to recognize Children’s Week and call for more policies to improve children’s health, well-being, development, education, and safety to ensure their long-term success.

Congresswoman Sara Jacobs said, “Investing in children pays off by every metric – improving their health and well-being, creating better outcomes in their schooling and career, and generating a significant return on investment. That’s why I’m so proud to introduce this resolution to recognize Children’s Week and ensure that we’re centering children and their futures in everything we do.”

“We are grateful to the House of Representatives for its recognition of Children’s Week, when lawmakers and the American public prioritize the needs of our nation’s children,” First Focus Campaign for Children President Bruce Lesley said. “Throughout this week, Champions and Defenders of children have promoted the health and well-being of our kids with legislation and events addressing the challenges they face. We are grateful for the support of these lawmakers and especially to Rep. Sara Jacobs for this resolution. We will continue working to make every week Children’s Week.”

Congresswoman Jacobs has been a champion for children’s well-being for decades. Before Congress, she founded San Diego for Every Child, a coalition dedicated to ending the experience of child poverty in San Diego County. In Congress, she’s led efforts to increase and expand the Child Tax Credit, address child poverty, and enact policies to stabilize, strengthen, and expand the child care system.
