The San Diego County Arts and Culture Commission marked its first anniversary with an event at The Soap Factory in Logan Heights. Commission Chair Jim Gilliam, along with several commission members, highlighted the achievements of the past year and outlined their future goals.
Speaking about the commission's progress, Chair Jim Gilliam stated, "The first-year accomplishments of the organization and what they would like to accomplish over the next several years."
Established in June 2022 by the Board of Supervisors, the Commission aims to promote cultural equity, access, and inclusion, advocating for the arts as essential to daily life. Additionally, the Commission works towards shaping innovative cultural policy and raising public awareness of the value and benefits of arts and cultural diversity in the County.
The event also saw the presentation of a proclamation from the Board of Supervisors in recognition of the Commission's efforts.
