San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to extend the Emergency Temporary Lodging Program to June 21. The extension was supported by an additional $9 million allocated by the board. Additionally, $4.6 million in funding was approved to assist residents in transitioning out of the program, benefiting the San Diego Housing Commission, National City Housing Authority, and City of Oceanside Housing Authority.

The Emergency Temporary Lodging Program, initiated on Feb. 12 to aid families displaced by flooding from the Jan. 22 storm, was initially set to conclude on May 11. The program aimed to provide temporary shelter and meals until Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Individual Assistance funds became available or until longer-term housing solutions could be identified by local housing authorities.

The decision to extend the program and provide further support reflects the County's commitment to assisting those affected by natural disasters and ensuring their well-being during challenging times.
