The inaugural Regional Economic Summit in San Diego County sparked a conversation about the meaning of economic prosperity and its implications for the region. The event, held at the County Operations Center, was an opportunity for county leaders to discuss their economic priorities and strategies.

Caroline Smith, Director of the Office of Economic Development and Government Affairs, opened the summit with remarks on the county's focus on economic development and equity. She emphasized that economic prosperity is not just about creating businesses and jobs but also about increasing resources, opportunities, and improving living standards for all residents.

Following Smith's address, Steve Lockett, Deputy Director of Economic Development and Prosperity, elaborated on the concept of economic prosperity from the county's perspective. He reiterated that while traditional views of economic development are important, there needs to be a broader focus on equity.

The summit also featured a panel discussion moderated by Mark Cafferty, President and CEO of San Diego Regional EDC. The panelists engaged in a dialogue about how the county is promoting inclusive prosperity throughout the region. They also outlined their top economic priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.

A recording of the Regional Economic Summit is available for viewing on YouTube.
