San Diego County will provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about its $8.48 billion recommended budget at two upcoming community sessions. These sessions will offer insights into the budget process, allow attendees to ask questions, and provide feedback.

County staff will discuss funding priorities such as behavioral health, homelessness, housing, and public safety. Core services like fire protection, libraries, and parks will continue to receive funding under the proposed budget.

The first session is scheduled as an open house on Thursday, May 23 at the County Operations Center in Kearny Mesa. Attendees can drop in anytime between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The second session will be virtual via Zoom at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29 and will include a presentation followed by a moderated comment period.

Those interested in attending can visit Engage San Diego County for address details and virtual meeting information. Registration is available for those planning to attend or who need language and accessibility services.

For individuals unable to attend the sessions, recordings will be made available in English and Spanish on Engage San Diego County after the virtual meeting concludes. Comments can also be submitted through Engage San Diego County or by emailing engage@sd.county.gov until 5 p.m. on June 13.

Additional information on the budget can be found in an executive summary or the full recommended budget plan online.

Budget hearings are scheduled before the Board of Supervisors at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4 and at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6. The Board's deliberations and adoption of the budget are set for June 25, with the adopted budget taking effect on July 1.
